Second day on the job

Good news is that I still love my job! Bad news is I am already beginning to understand why people like to go to bed so early...

Today, I just did random assignments at work until after lunch. I visited a site with Ben, one of the Principals of KGD, and toured around a building in Silver Spring that had been abandoned for 3 years. A developer asked him to go check it out, because he was thinking about investing in it but needed an architect's point of view. (I went for the ride, of course.) I found it very intriguing...and was impressed with my imagination for creating what it would look like 20 years down the road after the remodel! That took all day, actually, so I headed home afterward. Did I mention he drives a Jaguar? (It's pretty nice, if I say so myself.)

Then, Mom and I went to an Italian restaurant down the road for dinner. She had lasagna, and I had some tortellini, chicken, and cheese baked dish. Yummmmmm!! We spent the majority of the evening watching Dancing with the Stars and the Biggest Loser finale. How do some of these people weigh less than me now? I need to go running.

I'm actually really sad Mom is leaving. I had such a wonderful time with her here this weekend, and it really helped me adjust having her stay with me. I like having someone to come home to in the evenings, and I am going to miss her when she leaves :(

I guess I'm not going back home to Blacksburg until Grandpa's Memorial in July. I might go visit Heather over 4th of July weekend, but other than that, I have no trips planned (yet). I have a few friends in the area, including Jill in Annapolis, Meredyth and Stephen in Rockville, and Garrett in Bethesda. Other than that, Robert will be in Alexandria until June 4th, and Karen, who used to work for Bob with me, will be in Old Town for the summer. I haven't met her yet, though, but have talked with her on email...

PS: Did I tell you Mom spent a good majority of the day fixing my backyard?? I had talked about weeding out the stuff back there to fix it up, and Mom did it all! It looks AMAZING!!! I can't wait to sit outside now :) (I'll take a few pictures of the townhouse/backyard and show them to you later this week.)

Well, I can officially say I'm absolutely exhausted and can't imagine another minute awake. I'll write more tomorrow. Good night :)
